Cities have logos now?

A new logo for Dublin was unveiled this morning as part of a new tourism marketing campaign for the capital.

The campaign, according to Fáilte Ireland, will seek to reposition the city and county as a destination and secure its appeal to overseas visitors for the long-term future.

The initiative was launched in Croke Park this morning by Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Paschal Donohoe TD and included the launch of a new logo to promote the new tagline for Dublin, ‘A Breath of Fresh Air’.

A couple of promotional videos were also released to help get behind the initiative, with a particular emphasis on Dublin’s proximity to the sea and countryside and the range of activities on offer within a short spin of the city itself.

Commenting on the initiative, Minister O’Donoghue said: “What we have here in Dublin is unique. We have a young, vibrant, happening city with a rich culture and heritage which is nestled between the wide open spaces of Dublin Bay and the Dublin mountains.

“There is no point, however, in being Europe’s best kept secret and I very much welcome this new campaign to reposition the city and county and ensure that its unique appeal cuts through in the international marketplace.”
