As it’ll be entering into circulation in November, it’ll probably be what you’ll be handing over for a few pints next Christmas.
It follows on from the new €5 and €10 notes that were introduced in the last couple of years.
The new note has an innovative security feature that those in the know say makes it “resilient against counterfeiting” and “will reinforce the trust that the 338 million citizens across the euro area place in their banknotes”.
Riiiigggghhhhht.
New €50, €100, €200 and €500 notes will eventually be introduced over time, but as the €20 is the most-widely used banknote, this is the one we’ll have to get used to seeing and reluctantly getting rid of real soon.
