Pic: These mould-covered donuts were actually delivered to a Domino’s customer in the UK

Warning: You might not want to scroll down if you’re about to eat your dinner.

We love donuts as much as the next man, but it’ll be a while before we can think about eating one again after seeing the donuts that came out of a Domino’s outlet in London recently.

According to the Metro, Chloe Smith, a 20-year old student in Twickenham in London, ordered pizza and doughnuts off the menu of a Domino’s restaurant in Teddington in South West London having been up doing some late-night studying.

Chloe was horrified by the delivery that subsequently came her way, first by the stench coming from one of the boxes and then by the sight of what was inside.

Be warned, this isn’t pretty.

Not surprisingly, Chloe chose not to eat the donuts and immediately contacted the Domino’s branch in question, with the manager offering her a refund for the mouldy food she had been given.

Understandably, Chloe thought that a mere refund wasn’t enough and she complained to Richmond Council and environmental health officers, who are currently investigating.

Domino’s themselves are also investigating how food in such a state could possibly have been delivered to a customer, with a spokeswoman saying that the matter was being taken “extremely seriously”.

“Food quality is of utmost priority for Domino’s and we have strict processes and procedures in place for handling all ingredients and products,” the spokeswoman is quoted as saying in The Metro.

“We have asked that the customer contact us immediately in order for us to conduct a full and thorough investigation into this issue.”

Describing what happened herself and the reaction of Chloe and her housemates to the delivery, Chloe said: “At first we thought it might be chocolate chips but then the stench that come from the box was so overpowering.

“They were covered in mould and fur – it’s amazing we weren’t sick. How could someone put that in a box and send it out for delivery?

“I spoke to the manager from the store and all he wanted to offer was a refund, but that’s not good enough.”

Obviously we need our faith in donuts restored after seeing something like that, so here’s a reminder that, for the most part, donuts are delicious.

Even the forbidden ones.
