Following on from Wednesday’s attacks at the National War Memorial and the Canadian parliament in Ottawa, the Canadian daily papers ran with the following headlines…
Sadly, a part-time reservist with the Canadian Army, later named as 24-year-old Corporal Nathan Cirillo, was shot and killed at the city’s National War Memorial (pictured above) in the moments leading up to the parliament shooting.
According to ABC News, “The gunman was identified as Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, a 32-year-old Canadian national who had recently converted to Islam”. Little else is known about the gunman at this time.
A journalist was able to record the moment that police and the suspects began shooting at each other in the Canadian parliament.
