Some man for one man

Conor Heneghan

He’s getting quite a lot of attention in Turkey right now.

In case you were living under a rock since last night, you’ve probably caught sight of a man, reported in Turkey to be an Irish tourist, taking on all comers in a massive street brawl in Aksaray, a neighbourhood in Istanbul.

The video, which you can see in full here, shows the man getting a bottle of water from a fridge in a shop, but spilling a number of bottles out onto the ground while doing so.

Soon after, mayhem breaks loose and the man suddenly finds himself taking on a gang of angry locals, some of whom came armed with chairs and baseball bats.

The incident attracted lots of coverage in Turkish media, including the examples below, and we’ve included some headlines and excerpts that we’ve put through Google Translate for your entertainment.
