Paddy Power slashed the odds on a November election from 4/1 to 4/5 yesterday, perhaps in response to Fine Gael’s people-pleasing announcement of a new Dublin Metro system.
The current government must schedule an election earlier than next April 9, which means that the political future of the country will be decided in the next seven months.
The likeliest outcome of the election is very unclear and many questions abound. Will Fine Gael and Labour be able to form another government? Will the huge support for Independents continue? Will Fianna Fáil make a comeback?
