Man found dead in tent in Dublin is cousin of shooting victim Sandra Boyd

Thomas Boyd was found dead in a tent in Dublin city centre in the early hours of Monday morning.

A man whose body was discovered in a tent in Dublin on Monday (21 March) has been named as Thomas Boyd; the cousin of Sandra Boyd, who was shot dead in Finglas last weekend.

Thomas Boyd was found at Loftus Lane by Gardaí and emergency services, who attended the scene at approximately 3am on Monday.

According to the Irish Times, Boyd was understood to be a rough sleeper and third-party involvement in his death is not suspected.

On Wednesday afternoon, Gardaí formally charged a man aged in his 20s on suspicion of murder in relation to the fatal shooting of Sandra Boyd.

Boyd, a 36-year-old mother of five, was shot dead on Saturday night.

The incident occurred at a domestic residence at Collins Place in Finglas West.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene at approximately 8.40pm on Saturday.

Boyd was seriously injured during the incident and was taken to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital for treatment, where she was later pronounced deceased.
