Gardaí respond to shooting incident in County Dublin

The shooting took place on Friday afternoon.

Gardaí and emergency services have attended the scene of an incident that took place in the Foxdene area of Clondalkin in Dublin 22.

Gardaí responded to calls reporting shots being discharged in the area shortly after 2pm on Friday (1 March).

A number of shots were discharged at the scene.

Gardaí have confirmed that a man believed to be aged in his 40s was fatally injured.

The scene of the shooting is currently preserved pending an examination by Garda Crime Scene Examiners.

A separate incident occurred in Greenfort Drive, Clondalkin in the early hours of Friday morning in which a woman was stabbed to death, and a man in his 50s arrested.

Gardaí responded to an incident at 12.30am on Friday, where a woman in her 40s was discovered with serious injuries, believed to be stab wounds.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The arrested man is currently being detained at Lucan Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The house at Greenfort Drive was subsequently sealed off in order for a technical examination of the area to be carried out by Garda Crime Scene examiners.
