It may have been and probably has already been rectified by the time you’re reading this, but there was some gas things going on over at the official Burger King Twitter account today.

As if those in the food industry weren’t already having a hard time of it of late with the various horsemeat scandals, Burger King endured something of a PR disaster today when their Twitter account was hacked… with hilarious circumstances.

Having obviously devised a ingenious way to hack into the account or having simply guessed at their password, some internet whizz managed to take control of the Burger King Twitter account and proceeded to – as you would do – change the name to McDonalds and the avatar to the Mickey D’s logo and send a stream of tweets, some very funny, some incredibly offensive, to the account’s 90,000+ followers.

Like we said, it shouldn’t be too long before Burger King cop on to what’s going on and delete all offensive material, but we have screen-grabbed some of what went up on the site this afternoon and you can have a look for yourself to see if the mayhem is still continuing over here.

Burger King: Not lovin’ it.
