It looks like some little lout is after stealing Michael Conlan’s mobile phone right from under his Olympic medal-winning nose. Who would do such a thing?
Our Olympic heroes are barely home from London and already poor Michael Conlan has had his phone stolen. Not quite the homecoming he was expecting we assume.
The incident occurred outside Copper Face Jacks at around 2.30am on Thursday morning when Conlan, along with Katie Taylor and Paddy Barnes, were leaving the establishment after a well deserved night on the town.
Now, seeing as Conlan was outside Coppers at 3am in the morning, you might suspect that he was sloshed and he simply dropped his phone somewhere during the night. However, according to the man himself, “We were having the craic and my phone seemed to go missing.
“I think I would have noticed if I dropped it so I think someone took it out of my pocket.
“I was in between a crowd of people and I think someone just took it out of my pocket. I was being mobbed at the time.”
Poor Michael had lots of pictures take with stars such as Serena Williams, Usain Bolt and Lennox Lewis at the Olympic games in London, and the phone also contained his bank details.
Apparently, the phone is password encrypted so the crooks probably won’t get too far. Well, hopefully they won’t… for their own sake.
