It could bring poor visibility and difficult driving conditions.

Met Éireann have issued a status yellow rain warning for three counties with spot flooding expected in certain areas.

The warning for counties Cork, Kerry and Waterford will come into effect at 9am tomorrow morning and will be in place until 6am on Tuesday.

The forecaster said there may be poor visibility and difficult driving conditions in the areas worst affected.

“Monday will be yet another cloudy or overcast day with scattered falls of rain and drizzle,” said the national forecaster. “Mist and hill fog too.

“Becoming breezy also, in a freshening southeast wind. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees.”

It’s also expected to be a wet start to Tuesday, ‘with outbreaks of rain for most’.

Tonight will see patchy rain and drizzle becoming more persistent with heavy rain forecast for the west which is expected to extend to everywhere but the east and northeast by morning time.

Met Éireann has also warned that a ‘large steering low’ in the Atlantic could bring more severe weather this week.

They have pinpointed Friday, February 21 as the exact date when the “large steering low” could impact Ireland.

If the system is named, it would become Storm Floris, however the weather is notoriously subject to change this far out.
