Summer clothes at the ready because temperatures are set to soar tomorrow

Conor Heneghan

One last stand for the summer of 2016.

With the evenings drawing in and the rain seeming that bit more colder than usual, Irish people had resigned themselves to facing into a good six or seven months before being able to wear a t-shirt outside again.

In somewhat unexpected news, however, it would appear as if we’re going to be treated to one last blast of summer this week, with temperatures rising as high as 21 degrees in places on Wednesday.

According to Met Éireann, Wednesday will start off dry and will be warm and humid in places, with sunny spells in the midlands and in the east, where temperatures will hit and possibly even exceed 20 degrees.

It’s not all good news unfortunately, as rain is set to be persistent in the west and the north and is expected to have spread to all areas by Wednesday evening.

The return of conditions more suited to summer is set to be brief as after a humid start to Wednesday night, temperatures will begin to drop and be much fresher on Thursday, when temperatures will be between 13 and 16 degrees “at best”.

Make the most of it while it lasts, folks.
