Last night it was confirmed that JT McNamara has been left paralysed after his fall at Cheltenham and tributes have been pouring in for the Limerick jockey.

Early yesterday it seemed that McNamara was making good progress in his recovery with the news that he was to be transferred to the National Spinal Unit at the Mater in Dublin sometime next week, but last night the terrible news was broken that he has been left paralysed from his fall off Galaxy Rock.
A statement issued jointly by Dr Adrian McGoldrick, Irish Turf Club Senior Medical Officer and Lisa Hancock, CEO, Injured Jockeys Fund, on behalf of the McNamara family read: “JT McNamara remains in the Frenchay Hospital, Bristol. Whilst he suffered a serious neck injury resulting in paralysis, he has made progress in the last week and is in a very positive frame of mind.
The 37 year-olds career has finished in terrible circumstances, but sporting figures are among those who have been quick to show their support for the jockey.
It may be of little consolation to JT at the moment, but we sincerely wish him the best and hope he continues with his positive frame of mind.
