A 13-year-old boy has died after a drowning accident in the Liffey this afternoon.
The incident occurred at 2.30pm this afternoon between Islandbridge and Chapelizod. It’s reported that the boy got into difficulty after entering the water. The garda sub-aqua team arrived on the scene and the teenager’s body was taken from the water at around 4pm.
The exact details of how the teenager entered the water are not clear yet.
The boy’s body remains at the scene, but will be moved to St James’ Hospital for a post mortem.
