Teenage girl dies after severing her artery on broken vodka bottle

Gardaí are currently treating it as a tragic accident.

A teenage girl from Tallaght, Dublin has died after falling on a glass bottle that she was carrying. In the process, she severed one of her arteries and died from the cut sustained to her groin.

She passed away in the early hours of yesterday morning following the fatal cut.

The Independent have reported that Gardaí are currently investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death, but are treating it as a tragic accident.

It is understood that the 18-year-old had been carrying a bottle of vodka in her waistband along Sundrive Road when she fell shortly before 1am.

After falling and suffering heavy bleeding from her wounds, emergency services were immediately notified and rushed to the area.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and she was rushed to St James’s Hospital.

Tragically, she was pronounced dead a short time later.

A post-mortem examination is expected to be completed which will confirm the exact cause of death.
