The anxious wait will go on a little bit longer.
The voting on the same-sex marriage referendum finished at 10pm tonight.
The turn out was excellent across the country with some political commentators saying it might be the biggest since the 1937 constitutional referendum.
In case you were wonder what happens now, there will be no exit polls tonight. The boxes will be open at 9am tomorrow morning so hopefully we’ll have a result before midday.
Well done to everyone that voted, fingers crossed for the right result.
