The weather in Ireland is set to change significantly this week

Conor Heneghan

After a bitter spell of late, it looks like winter has decided to take a break for a while.

Temperatures in Ireland will soar to as high as 15 degrees this week in what is a fairly significant shift from the cold spells throughout the country of late.

Having dropped to as low as -6 last week, temperatures will consistently reach double figures during the daytime over the coming week, according to Met Éireann, hitting a peak of 15 degrees on Wednesday.

Unfortunately, the milder weather is set to bring with it a lot of rain from Tuesday afternoon onwards; Thursday is expected to be dry in most places but that will only serve as temporary relief ahead of next weekend.

Temperatures are expected to revert to something approaching normal for this time of year by the weekend, with heavy rain forecast during the day on Saturday and into Saturday night.
