There are now 1,826 billionaires in the world, according the the 2015 Forbes‘ Rich List.
The interesting thing for us is that there are five people from Ireland among the list of wealthy people.
The richest man in the country is Pallonji Mistry, who became an Irish citizen in 2003 after marrying Dublin-born Patsy Perin Dubash.
He’s involved in the construction and oil industries and is worth €14.59bn, which makes him the 55th richest person on the planet.
According to Forbes, Irish media kingpin Denis O’Brien is worth €6.8bn.
Martin Naughton, who founded electrical goods company Glen Dimplex, is worth €2.51bn.
Campbells Soup heir John Dorrance III, who is actually an American-born Irish citizen, is worth €2.33bn.
Businessman Dermot Desmond, who is a shareholder at Celtic football club has a €1.6bn fortune.
