A lot of people were delighted that Adam Scott won his first major title at Augusta last night, none more so than the lucky punter who is waking up £185,000 richer this morning.
The Aussie saw off the challenge of Angel Cabrera with a birdie on the second play-off hole after a thrilling finale in which both players birdied the 18th hole to bring it to sudden death.
While Scott picked up almost one and a half million dollars for his efforts, he wasn’t the only one waking up a little richer this morning after one UK punter had placed an each way bet of £5,000 on the new Masters champion at odds of 28/1, which returned £185,000 when Scott nailed the crucial putt on the tenth hole.

The punter in question would no doubt have been sweating after Cabrera made birdie on 18th and looked like he might just snatch the title away from Scott’s grasp, but given the sums of money he was betting in the first place – he placed £30,000 worth of bets overall – we doubt he was ever short of cash in the first place.
