This proposal will ban shops like bookmakers, fast food joints, arcades and “adult entertainment” stores on O’Connell Street.
The scheme is designed to protect historical businesses on the famous street, like the old Clerys department store, as well as restoring the cultural significance of the area.

The public are free to consult on the scheme over the next eight weeks before the city council makes a final decision on the plan.
In June, the council blocked a move to let Clerys be used for hospitality and office services.
