It’s a classic.
A hearing at Castlebar District Court last Friday was brought to our attention today and the story is one of the best we’ve heard all year.
A Sligo man named Noel Jinks **Great Name Klaxon** was convicted for driving on a public road with agricultural diesel in his jeep and his explanation is comical.
When Jinx was questioned in April, he claimed his nephew put green diesel in his jeep by accident because… wait for it… the young lad was ‘heavily stoned on weed’ that morning and made a mistake.
The nephew, Colin Jinks, said he put the diesel in the wrong can and that his uncle filled the jeep without knowing, according to The Mayo News.
However, tests on the diesel revealed a concentration of 105 per cent which means there was no normal diesel in the tank whatsoever.
The explanation for that, according to Colin Jinx, was that the fuel was very low in the tank so there was very little normal diesel in it to begin with.
Judge Mary Devins didn’t buy the story and convicted Noel Jinks. He was fined €5,000, but mitigated this fine down to €2,500.
The best is yet to come though, The Mayo News came up with the PERFECT headline for the story.
“Judge not hoodwinked by high Jinks”

We salute whoever wrote that headline.
