A major electrical fault has left thousands of homes and businesses without power in Dublin city on Tuesday evening.

The ESB have apologised to residents and workers in the Ballyfermot area of the city and insist that power will be restored as quickly as possible.

“We apologise for the loss of supply. We are currently working to repair a fault affecting your premises and will restore power as quickly as possible,” ESB said on its Power Check website.

The outage occurred at around 4.55pm and affects more than 3,300 properties.

This is after a problem at the Inchicore North power station. According to the Independent, it has left businesses in the Chapelizod Industrial estate, Ballyfermot College of Further Education and the main street of Ballyfermot without power.

Decies Road, Lally Road, Landahn Road, Muskerry Road, O’Hogan Road, Sarsfield Road and St Lawrence Road are all affected.
