Three girls, all aged 12, hospitalised after taking ecstasy

Carl Kinsella

Three 12-year-old girls are in serious condition after taking ecstasy pills, British police have confirmed.

The pills, which have been described by the police as ‘Teddy tablets’, are a common party drug among older people in Britain and Ireland – and a 16-year-old near Manchester died after taking ecstasy just weeks ago.

The police are now on the lookout for whoever supplied the drugs to the pre-teens.

According to the Irish Times, Detective Chief Inspector Chris Walker said: “Sadly, three more young people, who are only 12 years old, have taken ecstasy and ended up in hospital.

“The girls took a type of ecstasy described as ‘Teddy Tablets’. It is imperative young people understand the implications and avoid taking drugs, to stop any more young people ending up in hospital.”

The teenagers took the pills on Saturday evening and were brought to hospital before 10pm. They remain in serious condition this afternoon.
