The latest update on the Kevin Lunney kidnapping.
In a statement issued on Saturday morning, An Garda Síochána confirmed that the three people who had been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of Kevin Lunney had been released without charge.
Two men and one woman, who had all been arrested on Thursday morning, were released in the early hours of this morning. A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Mr. Lunney was kidnapped on 17 September this year, and told BBC Spotlight that he was tortured by a group of people, sustaining knife wounds, a broken leg, and having the letters ‘QIH’ carved into his skin.
Lunney is a director of Quinn Industrial Holdings.
This week’s arrests had followed the death of the main suspect in the abduction. Cyril McGuinness took ill while his house in Derbyshire was being searched last Friday and was later confirmed to have died of a heart attack.
Thursday’s operation involved searches in Cavan, Longford and Dublin.
An Garda Síochána continues to appeal to any person who has any information, no matter how insignificant it appears, on this vicious criminal attack or any other criminal activities which have taken place in the Cavan/Fermanagh border area over recent years, to contact An Garda Síochána at Cavan Garda Station on 049 4368800, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, Crime Stoppers on 1800 25 00 25 or any Garda Station.
