Three people dead after separate crashes in Waterford and Wexford

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collisions to come forward.

Gardaí have announced the death of three people in separate road crashes that occurred in recent days.

The first of the collisions took place on the N25 at Holmestown in Wexford on Wednesday (31 August) at around 5.45pm and involved a van and a bicycle.

The cyclist, a man in his 50s, was taken to Wexford General Hospital to be treated for his injuries which were serious.

On Saturday, a Garda spokesperson confirmed that the man since passed away.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

They are urging road users who were travelling on the N25 in the Holmestown area between 5.30pm and 6.00pm on Wednesday with camera footage, including dashcam footage, to make it available to them.

The second collision occurred on the N25 at Kinsalebeg in Waterford at around 10.15am on Thursday and involved an SUV and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a man in his 70s, was transported to Cork University Hospital to be treated for injuries where he later passed away.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.

They are also urging road users who were travelling on the N25 between Dungarvan and Youghal on Thursday from 10am to 10.30am with camera footage, including dashcam footage, to make it available to them.

Meanwhile, Gardaí are also appealing for witnesses following a fatal single-car crash at the level crossing in Mayglass in Wexford that took place at around 10.25pm on Friday.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí are urging road users who were travelling in the Mayglass area between 10.15pm and 10.45pm with camera footage, including dashcam footage, to make it available to them.
