This won’t go down well…
Drivers in Dublin are in for a tough time on Friday, with Prince Charles and Camilla visiting Glasnevin Cemetery, and thus closing a number of roads for a period of time.
Drivers won’t be able to access the N2 Finglas Road from 9am to 1pm. Due to a massive policing operation being put in place for the visit, vehicles will be diverted onto local roads such as Prospect Avenue, Botanic Road and the Old Finglad Road.
Also, the 140 and 40 bus routes will be diverted, as they travel past the cemetery.
Lord Mayor Brendan Carr was quick to defend the decision, emphasising the importance of making sure that the Royal Family feel safe during their visit, without disrupting the community too much.
Lord Mayor Carr said: “When you get someone of the importance of the Royal Family coming into the city, we have to ensure that that person, no matter who it is, feels safe and is safe but at the same time trying to keep the local community.”
We expect to see a lot of complaints from commuters on Friday. Don’t say we didn’t warn you…
