How would you celebrate your first major title and becoming the first Briton to win one in 76 years? Andy Murray had a lemon soda that cost him six bucks.
While Andy didn’t go crazy and go on a major binge after beating Novak Djokovic in Flushing Meadows, he was generous enough to let his friends do it for him.
According to a tweet sent by London Evening Standard diarist Joy Lo Dico earlier today, Murray spent six dollars on a lemon soda in New York restaurant Hakkasan last night. His entourage, believed to consist of around 30 friends and relatives, spent a further six and a half grand.

Further investigation in the Londoner’s Diary in the London Evening Standard revealed that Murray’s crew knocked 17 “Zesty Martinis” at $255 a bottle and two bottles of Louis Roederer at $396.
They racked up a bill of $6,448 in the restaurant’s Ling Ling bar in total, with a tip of $1,289 thrown in for good measure. If you want to see the bill in full, you can do so via the Instagram account of Hakkasan staff member Alonso_b here.
We wonder whether or not Murray’s fellow Scotsmen Sean Connery and Sir Alex Ferguson – fairly ubiquitous presences at the US Open all weekend – went along to join in the celebrations. Then things would have really kicked off.
