There have been many, many compliments paid to the wonderful Katie Taylor of late, but perhaps none as straight to the point as that of Dustin the Turkey this afternoon.
The Twittersphere was abuzz with people queuing up to pay tribute to the brilliant Bray boxer in the aftermath of her devastating victory over Mavzuna Chorieva in London earlier today, with Irish people en masse now dreaming of our first Olympic boxing gold medal since Michael Carruth’s victory in Barcelona 20 years to the day.
Famous people from a variety of different fields were quick to comment on their pride in watching Katie represent us so brilliantly on the world stage, but our favourite came from Dustin the Turkey, who paid tribute to Taylor in his own inimitable style.
People that meet Katie over the next few days will be calling her a national icon, a heroine, a legend and a role model amongst other things, but we’re sure being referred to as an ‘epic mott’ will mean just as much. Maybe.
