It’s unusual to see someone actually fall in love with another person in the space of a few tweets but that’s exactly what happened when one journalist saw Katie Taylor for the first time yesterday.
CNN Italian correspondent and Gazzetta dello Sport contributor Tancredi Palmeri is quite simply a must-follow for any football fans out there, as he has a vast knowledge of European football and a lovable, sometimes shaky grasp of English when not tweeting in Italian.
Yesterday after hearing of Katie Taylor becoming Ireland’s official flag bearer for the London Games, Tancredi developed a major, major crush. Take a look for yourself below:

Tancredi’s new obsession extended to charming one Irish tweeter that had sent a message to him with the response: “Looking at her and at you, the good tradition since I had a crash for Dolores O’Riordan hasn’t changed.” We reckon he meant to say “crush” there, rather than crash.
Having bared his soul regarding Katie, Dolores and random Irish followers, Tancredi eventually cooled down, especially when one Tweeter quipped: “Tancredi’s new obsession extended to charming one Irish tweeter that had sent a message to him with the response: Memo to Irish Olympic team. You might want to step up security around Katie. A crazy Italian is after her!!”
Having quickly regained his composure, Tancredi replied: “No way: I would never romance a girl when that is expected.” It sounds like the journalist is hoping to put the moves on our hopeful Olympian when she least expects it instead.
