Round one of the British Open got underway this morning but according to one US journalist pulling all-nighter, it’s been one to forget for Sergio Garcia.
As of this writing, Tiger Woods is the sole leader of the event thus far, with plenty of US sports fans staying awake for as long as possible to watch him compete.
According to Sports Illustrated writer Rick Reilly, however, the real winner on the opening day is the rough at Royal Lytham & St Anne’s in Lytham. Take a look at his tweet below to see how Spaniard Sergio Garcia appears to be handling things:
Does that tweet give anyone else the image of the fearsome Sarlaac Pit from Return of the Jedi or is it just us? Hopefully Sergio is back on the green by the time you read this, as the golfer said yesterday that the event is his “favourite”.
“I love this championship; everyone knows that. It’s my favorite, so I’d like to do well and have a chance,” he said. “We’ll see how I feel throughout the week.’’ Let’s hope that things pick up for him then…
