Every pair of eyes was watching and some were in tears as Katie Taylor won an Olympic Gold medal today. One man’s attention was elsewhere though.
Anyone that follows Meath footballer Ciaran Lenehan on Twitter knows that he’s fond of a bit of devilment, and he was up to his usual tricks at approximately 5pm this evening, when everyone else in the country was glued to the TV to watch the brilliant Katie Taylor secure the gold medal we always felt would come her way.
Nobody in their right mind would have believed that Lenehan was actually tuning into Noel Edmonds on one of the biggest days in the history of Irish sport and in fairness to him, he was quick to join the mass of tributes to Katie with a follow up tweet a few minutes later.
We firmly echo Lenehan’s sentiments. Congratulations Katie, you’ve done us all proud.
