The Conor Mortimer situation this week has really taken the spotlight away from Sunday’s Connacht final. Our favourite GAA tweeter has had his say on the subject.

Mortimer, who became Mayo’s highest scorer of all time during the National League, withdrew from James Horan’s panel earlier this week after being left out of the side for this weekend’s big game against Sligo.

The wound looks to run deep – on the evidence of a statement from the Mort’s family which was published in the Irish Examiner today.

And the situation has prompted a predictably sardonic response on the Twitter page of Colm “Woolly” Parkinson, himself a divisive figure during his playing days with Laois and now forging a new reputation for himself as a ratings winner sideline reporter on Newstalk.
