As men we hold this inalienable truth dear in a confusing world where the truth and lies are so close that it’s hard to tell the difference: “You don’t make friends with salad.”
Sure we may urge our children to eat their greens, but deep down inside an atavistic sense of pride is stirred when our children develop an appreciation for good meat, it’s perhaps something in this iPhone-loving, skinny jean-wearing, metrosexual, Sex and the City nonsense era that reminds us of our hunter-gatherer origins.
So when our sons or duaghters reach that point in a child’s life where they realise steaks are delicious or asks to grill their first burger on the barbeque “Cats in the cradle” starts playing in our heads.
Okay, I might be over-selling this, but the above tweet from Paraic O’Donnell (@paraicodonnell) is pretty funny.
