Two men arrested after a car full of explosives was stopped by Gardaí

Gardaí are questioning two men after they were caught in possession of six bags of suspected explosives on the Naas Road.

The men aged in their early 30s and 40s were arrested on the Naas Road following a successful operation that was led by the Crime and Security section and the Special Detective Unit. The arrest was made by the Emergency Response Unit at about 7.30pm on Wednesday night.

The bomb squad was also called to the scene and the device has now been sent for forensic examination.

The men are currently being detained at Ballyfermot and Ronanstown stations while the area has now been reopened for public use.
