It’s going to be mighty cold over the next few days.
Winter is expected to hit Ireland in a big way over the next few days with sub-zero temperatures and significant amounts of snow expected in many parts of the country.
Met Eireann have issued a status orange snow/ice weather warning for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo, valid until midnight tonight, with up to eight centimetres of snow predicted to fall in parts.
A status yellow snow/ice warning has been issued for Longford, Cavan, Monaghan, Galway and Roscommon, also valid until midnight tonight, with up to four centimetres of snow anticipated.
Temperatures are expected to plunge to 2 or 3 degrees tonight, but will drop significantly tomorrow night and over the weekend, potentially falling as low as -4 on Friday and -6 on Saturday night.
