Good news for Android users, less so if you have an iPhone.
Android users in Ireland can top up their Leap Cards by using their phones from Monday.
This new App, from the National Transport Authority, means that users of certain smartphones will not have to go to newsagents or specialised machines – such as those located at Luas stops in Dublin – to add credit to their Leap Cards.
To get the App, the phone must run on Android 4.4 KitKat or later.
People with the App on their phone will also be able to check their friend’s credit, collect a ticket or even pay for a top-up on a friend’s card.
More than 1.5 million Leap Cards have been sold in Ireland since they were launched four years ago.
