VIDEO: A car gets sucked into a massive sinkhole in Ottawa, Canada’s capital city

Sinkholes are terrifying.

A massive sinkhole has developed in a busy part of Ottawa, Canada’s capital city, swallowing up vehicles and causing major panic.

A broken water main was thought to be the cause, according to The Journal, as well as subway work in the city.

“No city wants to see this kind of a sinkhole, but I can tell you that if you looked back in the last year there’s probably a major sink hole in every city at least once a week somewhere in North America or around the world,” Mayor Jim Watson told a press conference.

The sinkhole, which stretched across four lanes, also devoured a parked van and a lamppost.

No injuries were reported.
