The Republican National Convention descended into calamity as soon as Melania Trump decided to CTRL+X, CTRL+V Michelle Obama’s speech from 2008, and it’s only got more absurd from there.

Ted Cruz, meanwhile, drew a lot of abuse from the crowd after he failed to endorse Trump for the presidency.
Cruz came a distant second to the businessman in the Republican nomination process, and only mentioned Trump once in his speech.
“I want to congratulate Donald Trump on winning the nomination last night.”
Later in the speech, he urged: “Please, don’t stay home in November. Stand, and speak, and vote your conscience, vote for candidates up and down the ticket who you trust to defend our freedom and to be faithful to the constitution.”
‘Vote your conscience’ is the rallying cry of the Never Trump movement, with many seeing Cruz’ words as showing no confidence in the former Apprentice TV personality.
“We knew people were going to be mad if he didn’t say the words, but he congratulated him and called for unity behind common values. He expected people to not be thrilled about this,” a Cruz adviser said afterwards.
