Nobody was hurt in the incident.
A few hours ago, the Cypriot Minister for Foreign Affairs confirmed that the hostage situation in Larnaca has come to an end after EgyptAir Flight MS181 was taken over by a passenger claiming to be wearing a suicide explosive belt.
It was later revealed that the hijacker, Seif Eldin Mustafa, wanted to talk to his estranged Cypriot wife who lives on the Mediterranean island but the most important thing from the incident is that all the passengers and crew are safe. A spokesman for the Cyprus Transport Ministry has also revealed that the hijacking was not related to terrorism.
The focus will now surely switch towards the security standards in Egyptian airports and how Seif Eldin Mustafa managed to evade the authorities. Footage has emerged of the hijacker passing through a security check point.
