It’s not the first time this has happened.
A 26-year-old woman in Wexford was pulled over on the side of the road by criminals impersonating Gardaí, before being robbed.
According to KildareNow, the incident occurred on Saturday night shortly before 9pm in the Caim area, when the woman was pulled over by a dark car flashing blue lights.
The woman, assuming that this was the Gardaí, stepped out of the vehicle for a man who “looked like a Garda”, before having her mobile phone and a small amount of cash robbed by the gang of criminals.
Similar incidents have occurred in Wexford in the recent past, when a woman travelling to Enniscorthy was the victim of two separate attempts to run her off the road by another fake Garda car.
A spokesman for Enniscorthy Gardaí said that they are treating the incident seriously and are appealing for any members of the public who may have seen anything suspicious or may have any information on those responsible to come forward to them, either at Enniscorthy Garda Station or on the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111.
