Welcome to summer in Ireland.
Those of you expecting the fine spell of weather that traditionally accompanies the Leaving Cert look set to be disappointed if the latest weather forecasts are anything to go by.
Met Eireann have issued a series of weather warnings for the day ahead, with parts of the east of the country set to be battered by winds of up to 115km/h.
A status orange weather warning of severe winds has been issued to Dublin, Louth, Wicklow, Wexford and Meath and is valid until 8pm tonight.
The rest of the country isn’t much better as a status yellow warning has been issued practically everywhere else (Munster, Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Offaly and Westmeath).
It’s even worse for counties in Munster, Connacht and also in Donegal as a status yellow rainfall warning has been issued due to expected heavy rainfall throughout the day, with as much as 40mm of rain predicted in some areas.
So much for the start of the summer, wha?
