Woman in her 80s dies after being struck by a lorry in Kildare

Very sad news.

A woman in her 80s has died after she was stuck by a lorry in Kildare today (Thursday, 19 March).

The incident occurred around 12.30pm on Main Street in Clane.

It’s understood the woman was taken to Naas General Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

A post mortem will be held at a later date.

No other injuries were reported in the incident.

The services of Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward and are also appealing to any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time to make this footage available to them.

The road remains closed and diversions are in place.
