A woman has died after being struck by a car in Tipperary

Sad news.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision near Cahir, Tipperary.

A woman in her 50s was fatally injured following a collision with a car and pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident happened at around 8.20pm on Monday night.

The collision occurred on the Old Cork Road when the woman was walking on the hard shoulder accompanied by a child on a bicycle. The child was not injured in the incident.

The car was travelling from Cahir towards Mitchelstown and the driver of the car, a man in his late 20s, was uninjured.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was travelling in the area at the time to contact them at Cahir Garda Station on 052 7445630.
