Slipper on the dancefloor.
Meath woman Emma Fox has been paid damages and legal fees after an accident that happened at a Dublin nightclub in 2012.
Ms Fox was out in Sin nightclub on Sycamore Street on St Patrick’s Day when she slipped and fell on a wet dancefloor in the club.
The woman’s lawyer told the Circuit Civil Court that Ms Fox’s right knee “popped out” after falling, but “spontaneously popped in again” a short time later.
The 23-year-old went to hospital after the incident but left and headed home after being told there would be a five hour waiting list.
She visited a consultant the following day and started on medication and physiotherapy straight away. She’s made a full recovery but the chances of her dislocating it again have increased hugely.
Ms Fox claimed the nightclub shouldn’t have allowed people bring drinks on the dancefloor and raised concerns over their lack of system in relation to cleaning and drying spillages.
The judge awarded her €17,500 damages and legal costs.
