Woman who accused Donald Trump of rape pulled from public appearance following “terrible threats”

She pulled out of the event yesterday.

A woman who is suing Donald Trump for allegedly raping her as a child abandoned a plan to speak publicly yesterday, citing “terrible threats”.

The woman, known as Jane Doe, had invited media to her lawyer’s Los Angeles office where she was expected to reveal her identity but ultimately ended up not appearing before the assembled media.

Instead her lawyer, Lisa Bloom, cancelled the appearance and released a short statement saying:

“Jane Doe has received numerous threats today as have all the Trump accusers that I have represented. She has decided she is too afraid to show her face. She has been here all day, ready to do it, but unfortunately she is in terrible fear. We’re going to have to reschedule. I apologize to all of you who came. I have nothing further.”

Doe, who was 13-years-old at the time of the alleged attack, has claimed that Trump assaulted her on four occasions during parties hosted by disgraced businessman Jeffrey Epstein, whom she also accused of rape.

According to her lawyer, she had attended the parties under the promise of money and a modelling career.

Trump has strongly denied the allegations levelled against him, labelling them a smear campaign ahead of the election, with his lawyer Alan Garten claiming them to be “reckless, irresponsible and categorically untrue” according to The Guardian.

Doe filed a lawsuit against Trump in April which was dismissed due to a technical filing error but she would file fresh suits in June in the states of New York and California.

A civil lawsuit is set for an initial status conference in a New York district court on 16 December.
