There’s some good (or bad, depending on your festive outlook) news on the weather front, as forecasters say a White Christmas is becoming increasingly unlikely this year.

Were you secretly looking forward to making snow angels and snowmen this coming Christmas, while simultaneously calling in sick and moaning about the cold weather? Well then, you might have to find something else to groan about with your mates as temperatures could reach highs of 15C this month.

While Christmas Day might avoid snow showers thanks to warmer weather pushing up north, that could change for New Year’s day, according to Mark Dunphy, editor of Meteotimes.net.

Speaking to the Irish Independent, Mr. Dunphy said, “… it could turn fairly cold especially in the days around or after New Year’s Day with increasing chances for snow in the period around January 8 – 12”.

As for the rest of this week, Met Éireann are predicting a mild and largely dry outlook, with just a few spots of rain being predicted for coastal counties.
