We have been getting a great response in our shout out for some old school GAA pictures and this one from the 1968 league final is another gem.
The rivalry between the Cats and the Premier in recent years has been one the standout features of the hurling championship, a rivalry that has been one of the longest in the GAA.
Kilkenny man Fran Cody sent us in this picture from the 1968 league final, and unfortunately from Fran’s perspective, the Tipp men emerged victorious on a scoreline of 3-09 to 1-13.
The term schemozzle probably doesn’t do justice here, with Pa Dillon looking like he is about to decapitate John Flanagan, after the Tipp man flattened goalkeeper Ollie Walsh, who is still on the ground.

We’re looking for more pictures, and after the response we had to this picture earlier in the week, we are hoping to find some more beauts. If you have a picture of note, please email it to shout@joe.ie with ‘Old School GAA’ in the subject line.
