Dublin are the All-Ireland champions after seeing off a spirited Kerry side 0-12 to 0-09 in greasy conditions in Croke Park.
Two second-half points for Paul Flynn helped to solidify Dublin’s victory but in truth the damage was done in the opening 30 minutes when Dublin streaked into an eight points to four lead.
Conditions were not ideal for football and both teams struggled to adapt to the wet conditions with Dublin managing to cope that little bit better.
Kerry tried to fightback during the second half but were unable to get a goal to close the gap and Dublin were able to keep them at arms length.
Alan Brogan came off the bench to score a great point which ended the Kerry resistance and left Dublin four points ahead.
A late Bryan Sheehan point reduced the deficit to three points but it was as close as Kerry came as Dublin claimed the victory.
Dublin fans will be delighted to reclaim Sam Maguire after they were shocked by Donegal in last year’s Championship.
