It might not go down too well in IT Carlow, mind.
The semi-finals and finals of the Fitzgibbon Cup are meant to take place in Limerick this weekend, but the way things are going, it’ll be great if they go ahead at all.
Last week, IT Carlow were thrown out of the competition because of questions over the eligibility of one of their players, James Gannon. They were subsequently re-instated after an appeal was upheld by the Central Appeals Committee.
IT Carlow are due to take on Limerick IT in one of two Fitzgibbon Cup Finals tomorrow but that has been thrown into doubt following this evening’s news that Mary Immaculate College – who would have taken IT Carlow’s place in the competition – are taking their case to the Disputes Resolution Authority (DRA).
It has all been a bit chaotic to say the least, but we did get a kick out of the reaction to the news by Jamie Wall, the talented Cork dual player who was struck down with a serious spinal injury last year.
You can probably tell he’s a Mary I man…
