Pic: With a great ad like this on DoneDeal, this hurling helmet in Cork deserves to get top dollar

If hurling helmets could talk, this one could tell a few stories.

If hurling helmets could talk, this one could tell a few stories.

With helmets now standard issue in the game of hurling, you don’t have to go far to find one, but why buy a run of the mill head guard when you can get your hands on one with character and personality in spades?

Realising that any dreams he had for his son’s hurling career have now faded because the X-Box has taken over, one hurling fanatic from Ballyhea in Cork has decided to put his young fella’s helmet up for sale on DoneDeal and he doesn’t half sell it well.

Recalling that the highlight of the Mycro helmet’s career was the time spent in the dugout during the North Cork U12 final in Mallow, it was also used to keep sliotars dry and “protected the young fellow from a lash of a hurl by some brute playing for the Hooly back in early 2010”.

Despite the fact that owner recently came across it in the shed – “found in an empty bag of maverick cow feed” to be more precise – with a bit of treatment from some Fairy liquid and brillo pads it’ll be as right as rain once again and, as the owner himself says, “all this helmet wants is a second chance lads”.

You can see the ad in full on DoneDeal here, but we’d be surprised if you feel the need to read it before handing over your money.

€50? Sure, ‘tis a bargain.
